Consumer Information

Did you know that the State of Idaho does not require contractors to be licensed? While all contractors working in the state that earn $2,000 or more in a year are required to be Registered, registration provides no assurance that they have any formal or industry training or experience with the work they may be offering to the public. Anyone with Workers Compensation and Liability Insurance can become registered. Anyone.

Legal Issues for Consumers

That's why it is important that before you hire a contractor to work in your home or office, you ask them to show you their Professional Building Contractor License!

A contractor’s willingness to become licensed voluntarily demonstrates their commitment to high standards for professionalism and ethics. Licensure requires contractors to be registered AND to meet certain minimum standards for training and experience, and to complete 8 hours of approved continuing education each year on building codes, regulations and industry standards.
